Kerala is famous for wood products in excellent designs, made from high quality timber. To overcome the ecological impact of deforestation, the wood-based industry in the State has now developed rubber wood, coconut wood and even coir and bamboo as excellent raw materials for manufacturing a variety of wood-based products like plywood, furniture etc. Kerala also leads the processed rubberwood-based furniture sector in the country.
